Meet Philomena
Principal Psychologist
Philomena is a dynamic psychologist with over 20 years experience. She has had a diverse career, from working as a School Psychologist in NSW and the NT, to working with the Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation team in Cairns.
Her areas of expertise are in Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism, Child-Parent communication skills and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as working with late-diagnosed women.
Philomena is a passionate advocate and regularly provides advocacy for neurodivergent children regarding their access to school and school supports.
Philomena also provides couples therapy, with a particular interest in working with couples where one or both partners and neuro-divergent, and with older couples.
Philomena originally completed an Agricultural Science degree, was a high school teacher for several years, then went back and did Psychology (Hons) after having children. She hasn’t looked back, although she has fantastic mini-orchards at both her homes, and would quite like a few cows. She has also been studying Italiano for five years, but reckons she still sucks at it.
In addition to her to ‘real’ children and beloved grandchild, she has two fur children. One a fat Maltese terrier that is bordering on looking like a white wombat, and a loveable, enormous boofhead longhaired German Shepherd, still in puppy phase but seeming to be smarter than anyone else in the family. No-one would be surprised if he was secretly learning Italiano to be able to speak to Philomena.
